Local Philanthropy

As individuals with time, talents and treasures, Kappas first support our sisters; second, we participate in local service projects; and third, we serve the greater good.

Reading Is Fundamental (RIF), our official philanthropic partner, has been supported through the donation of thousands of books and volunteer hours to Boys and Girls Clubs, elementary schools and hospitals by chapter across the country.

Our association has had a long standing relationship with both Literacy Services and Sojourner Truth House. We make donations to each of these local organizations every year.  Our funds are raised through member donations (paying at higher dues paying levels), exam kits that are sold to Kappa parents for their students at University of Wisconsin and at Lawrence University, and our annual Couples' cocktail Party and Auction.  We also make donations to the Kappa Kappa Gamma Foundation and to The Rose McGill Fund.

Our association has supported the Kappa Kappa Gamma Foundation with financial gifts and Rose McGill magazine subscription sales to help fund scholarships, confidential aid, education and training, and support of our two museums.

Kappas, Community & Philanthropy: Making a Difference
The generosity of the members of the Milwaukee Alumnae Association affords us to contribute to our community in many ways. We also use funds to aid other Kappas in trying times and assist in shaping leaders. Your dues and support of our annual Kappa auction allowed us to support numerous causes. Last year (September 2015 - June 2016), the Milwaukee Alumnae Association gave  to the SLG KKG Scholarship,  Sojourner Family Peace Center,  Literacy Services of Wisconsin,  the Rose McGill Holiday Sharing Program, the Kappa Kappa Gamma Foundation, as well as donating new benches for Eta Chapter’s front porch. In addition, we collected in kind donations for the Silver Spring Neighborhood Center and the Sojourner Peace Center. We hope you can continue paying your dues and maybe consider an elevated giving level so we can continue this wonderful giving tradition.
